2nd Kona Series Race-Dec 12th-Results

What a great race! 8 Kona sailors showed up for 3 races in gusty winds from 5-15. We raced across the river at the Eau Gallie Causeway from 11 to 4. The site is great with the restaurant Squid Lips: http://www.squidlipsgrill.com/, having access to the water, and food and refreshments right there. Each race finished at the restaurant. Surf Mama paid for lunch in between races and some stayed for happy hour at the restaurant. Thanks to Sandy Point for making extra Konas for racers. Two Formula racers were there from Miami for support and sailing while we raced.
This site is great and has potential for future events, so stop by the new race site to show your support and let them know you appreciate their support.
Results:
1st Steve Gottlieb
2nd Chris Waldo
3rd Beth Winkler
4th Doug Waldo
5th Mike Rayl
6th Steve Campbell
7th Cody Steward
8th Linda Campbell

I posted the wrong location for the May 8th race, this one will be at the Clearwater sailing center.

2nd Kona Series Race-Dec 12th/ update

We are still on for next Saturday's race, I have a few Kona confirmations. Meeting area will be at either causeway based on the forecast. Downwind causeway. Should know by the middle of the week. If you need my phone e-mail me. A few Konas will be available, let me know if you need one.
No entry fee, bring your own beverage and lunch.

Race # 2

This one is looking to be between the Pineda and Eau Gallie causeways-map to follow later. This area is very clear for racing and can be launched from either causeway. I hope to get a nearby restaurant to host us for after race relaxation. Some of you who find the I-I daunting should like this area. No other races scheduled til Jan 9th(another Kona Series race). Also Sarasota has asked to host the May 8th race-they feel no one can touch their Kona fleet on their home ground.
More to come later, just wanted to get the date out there.

Here is the site for our first race:

No wind but a great location.

This is for the racing info in Melbourne, FL

I am hoping to bring racing back to Central Florida, the location is excellent in relation to the rest of the state. This blog will cover the racing info for the Kona series.
